RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – A serious traffic crash closed the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 231 South toward Murfreesboro at Walnut Grove Road near Christiana. The accident occurred around midnight as Friday turned into Saturday.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

UPDATE: CHRISTIANA, TN - The son of former LaVergne Mayor Ronnie Erwin has been killed in a serious auto accident that occurred on Highway 231 South in Christiana.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident took place just before 10 PM on Friday night. 30-Year-old Ronnie Erwin, who is named after his father, the former LaVergne Mayor, was driving a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck towards Murfreesboro on 231 South when the wreck occurred.
State Troopers say Erwin ran off the left side .
Roadwork on the bridge between South Church Street and Broad Street has been causing delays in the flow of traffic for Murfreesboro residents.
