but i just can t imagine it s good for you. do i think it s inducing it or aggravating it, that i can t even, but i would tell you, i can t imagine it s doing anybody any good. michael, final question for you, i m sorry. i didn t mean to cut you off. but i wanted to ask you this, additional cuts while cost just as much according to some people who studied this and some people say that it s okay to move forward, but saying at the same time. wait a minute, let s put the breaks on this, make it slower and one, we want to make sure we know of no other air pollution strategy that could achieve cost effective mandate, but other people saying that the epa and just moving forward, this might not be the right time at all? well, i think you ve got a lot of big oil money talking. kelly: it s talking, talking big. yeah, and it s going to cost 10 billion dollars upfront, another 2.4 billion dollars a year to handle this, but put it in perspective. the big five oil companies in
i mean, the bridges are in disrepair, the airports look like you re flying to a third world city. he s right about that. what s confusing a little to people, some thought that s what surplus spending was supposed to be two years ago, three years ago, 787 three years ago, 787 for projects that were supposed to be shovel ready. clayton: keep in mind a lot of the president s men and women said all along he didn t ask for enough for the stimulus package. nows working a new public works spending plan that calls for 4 billion dollars in new spending on two infrastructure programs, higher caps on private activity bond to encourage more private spending on highways and other infrastructure projects, giving foreign pension funds tax exempt status when selling u.s. infrastructure, property more real estate assets, also renewed call for a 10 billion
you know, some people criticized me at the prayer breakfast for bringing up god and the bible. i mean, it is a prayer breakfast, right? i don t understand that, but at any rate, if god thinks proportionality is fair, who are we to say it is unfair. the minute you begin to deviate away from proportionality, you begin to inject your own philosophy. and that is always going to lead you in one direction or another. i think that s why god had a program like that, you make 10 billion dollars, you put in a billion. you make $10, you put in one. you know, the guy who paid a billion just put in a billion times more than the other guy, but they get the same rights. what could be fairer than that. you know? now, i ll tell you what is not
everyone s attention. and going toe to toe with president obama, nice to see you. thanks, greta. you served with the president in the illinois government. we were in the illinois senate for years. and today it s reported you gave him a hard time that congress fears he s leading our nation to the same financial bankruptcy as illinois has. yes, look, when house republicans and i think most of the country, greta, hear the president s articulated view of the economy, they hear the same rhetoric that led illinois to be a financial basket case. chase revenues, the revenues underperform. don t deal with the underlying spending problems and now what s going on in illinois? almost 10 billion dollars in unpaid bills, almost the second highest per capita debt of any state in the union, higher than average unemployment rate, a downgrade in the credit rating and all of these things are exactly what president obama portends as he articulates he needs more and more and more reven
if you look at just the reconstruction part of the budget, we are on a trajectory to spend 100 billion dollars in just afghanistan. and that s not and since the beginning of the war. this is just the reconstruction. there is over 19 billion dollars that s been appropriated and yet, not designated for projects and the president has requested another 10 billion dollars. so, you re talking about close to 30 billion dollars that could be clawed back on projects that haven t even been started yet. greta: so why isn t that happening? why are i m on the show advocating it, there are tens of billions of dollars out there. the president is touting the fact that we re out of iraq, we re not out of iraq, there are nearly 15,000 contractors in iraq alone. greta: that we re paying for. that we re paying for. yeah, so you just look at the two accounts alone and if you go back again to afghanistan, we re spending more than a million dollars an hour just doing the foreign aid part of it.
