PARIS (AP) — Some 15,000 athletes will get to feast on fresh baguettes, gourmet dishes and environment-friendly French cuisine — but no wine — when Paris hosts the Summer Olympics
Four million applications were received for an online lottery where winners get to buy tickets for next year’s Paris Olympics. The local organizing committee says they hope to sell 1.3 million tickets as a result of the latest draw. Applications ended on Thursday and winners will know early next month if they have been successful. They can start buying from May 11 and have a 48-hour timeslot to do so. Figures on which countries the 4 million lottery applications came from were not available. The countries who bought the most tickets and other breakdowns will be known after the sales end in June.
The Ben Gollings coached-side is in third spot of the series standing with 130 points while Argentina is in second spot with 140 and New Zealand with 164 has sealed their spot at the Olympic Games..
The men’s standing is led by New Zealand with 142 points followed by Argentina with 121 and Fiji with 113. There are three more tournaments left in the series starting with the Singapore Sevens this weekend. .
