2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift: First impression Top Searches: Anirban Mitra | TIMESOFINDIA.COM | Updated: Feb 2, 2021, 13:46 IST NEW DELHI: A decade-old Fortuner has the same impact on the audience even as a handful of carmakers tried their luck in the domain. In its first launch of the year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has shunned its protractors, ensuring the facelift is more powerful and torquey, with better creature comforts and design changes, which are not abrupt. This time around, the Fortuner has arrived on our shores along with the special edition Fortuner Legender. The latter is yet to reach most dealerships, and we got our hands on the facelifted Fortuner.

2021 Toyota Fortuner s First Batch Of Deliveries Underway In Select Cities

The facelifted Fortuner was launched on January 6. Deliveries for the second batch are expected to begin by the end of January. The waiting period for the Legender and 4x4 variants will be longer than the 4x2 variants. The Fortuner is priced from Rs 29.98 lakh to Rs 37.58 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota recently launched the facelifted version of its flagship SUV, the Fortuner, and now deliveries for the first batch are underway. Certain dealers have already rolled out the first of the Fortuners to customers who booked the SUV even before the prices were announced. We have news that the Fortuner will see a waiting period of up to a month with the second batch arriving by the end of January. The Fortuner is available in two broad variants: Standard and Legender. The range-topping Legender and 4x4 variants will see a longer waiting period over the Standard 4x2 variants.

2021 Toyota Fortuner vs Ford Endeavour vs MG Gloster vs Mahindra Alturas G4: Dimensions, Features, Engines Compared

7-speed AT The diesel engine of the Fortuner may not have changed in terms of displacement, but don’t judge a book by its cover. The new engine now puts out 204PS and 500Nm, an extra punch of 27PS and up to 80Nm over the outgoing model. However, torque output for the manual variant is limited to 420Nm, which is the same as before. The increased grunt also takes it a notch above the Endeavour and Alturas G4, on paper. That being said, the Gloster’s twin-turbo unit is the most powerful, at 218PS.  In addition to the diesel motor, the facelifted Fortuner retains its 166PS 2.7-litre petrol engine which gets the option of a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. This makes the Fortuner the only model in its segment to get a manual transmission option. These motors drive the rear wheels only. The diesel engine also gets a 6-speed MT and a four-wheel drivetrain option.
