Para-swimmer Ernie Gawilan starts his 4th Asian Para Games defense of 3 golds in the men's 200-meter individual medley (IM) SM7 in Hangzhou, China on Monday, October 23. A 32-year-old Dabawenyo, Gawilan won gold in the SM7 200m IM during the 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games. He is also set to defend his 100m backstroke S7 and 400m freestyle S7 titles from the 3rd Asian Para Games. With experience in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, Gawilan is well aware of the pressure to maintain his gold-winning streak for Team Philippines.
The Games' organizing committee had reported in June that the total cost of hosting last year's Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics was set to total ¥1.42 trillion.
Prosecutors are probing whether former Games executive Haruyuki Takahashi lobbied the committee to extend favor to Sun Arrow over the sale of stuffed toys for the Games, the sources said.
