kate, again this is one of the defining issues of the rest of this early stage of the campaign. we re just three months before the iowa caucuses here. we ll see if senator warren talks more about this this evening when all candidates gather at the big dinner des moines. huge gathering for democrats today in iowa. great to see you, jeff thank you. so does it all add up now? where exactly would the money come from to cover cost reaching in the tens of trillions of dollars. our chief business correspondent chris treen romain joins me now. let s look at the top line, what do you see in this. i see a populist attempt to say i m protecting the middle class and go after people with the big, big corporations and superwealthy. when you look how she pays for the $20.5 trillion price tag. half of the items on the list are companies and investor. the wealth tax we know about, she would charge 3 cents of
having a plan on how to pay for medicare for all and particularly on the question of whether middle class taxes would go up on medicare for all. this is a question she s been dodging for weeks, whether it s from reporters or some of her rivals on the democratic debate stage. and now today she s saying the answer to that question is no, not a single penny would go up in her plan on paying medicare for all on the middle class. this is an interesting dynamic we re seeing between elizabeth warren and bernie sanders, because bernie sanders, the author of medicare for all, said earlier this week he didn t think it was necessary yet to put up a detailed plan. her price tag for medicare for all plan would be $20.5 trillion of extra spending, including employer contribution. we re talking about cracking down on tax evasion and fraud, and targeting big financial
tami, we look at this, bernie sanders, look at bernie sanders and elizabeth warren. sanders price tag is $30 trillion. warren s is $20.5 trillion. who is closer to the actual price tag? well, sanders hasn t put an actual price tag on his plan. these are what outside experts say a plan like sanders will cost. that s abouts 3 $32 trillion, $ trillion over ten years. warren s one way to pay for it, overall price tag is lower and $25.5 trillion over ten years. getting to it because she wants states to pick up half the tab and continue paying no longer actually paying for medicaid or children s health insurance programs, but they are going to have to send that money to the federal government, and then also, though, she is as the biden campaign is hitting her on, she is making somebody
