That involved dramatic measures that ranged from retiring the GT, which had been overshadowed by the Mach 1, to introducing homologation specials such as the Boss 302 born from Trans Am, and the Boss 429 born to support the Blue Oval s new 429 NASCAR engine. Five decades later, digital artists love to play with these retro icons, and the rendering we have here is a brilliant example of this. 6 photos Ford only built the Boss 429 for 1969 (859 units) and 1970 (499 examples), and this pixel portrait uses the latter as a starting point. And the general spirit of the proposal seems to involve maintaining all the retro styling bits in place while mixing them with the type of aero developments you might expect to find on new-age muscle cars.

Thanks to our Ford Month feature, the seemingly never-ending periplus in search of the next great Blue Oval has now taken us to a very interesting representative.  It s an integral part of the Steve Todhunter Collection that’s going to hit the red carpet at the company s Glendale event in March. And when we say an appealing member, we literally mean that.  Checking out the collection s roster for Mecum’s upcoming auction reveals it s chock-full of red cars – many of them of the Prancing Horse variety. Granted, we spotted some oddities among them, but those will have to wait their turn to share the story.
