Azerbaijani banks demand at currency auction fully met despite slight decrease

By Zeyni Jafarov - Trend: The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) sold $55 million to the local banks at the foreign exchange auction held with the participation of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) on February 16, 2021, Trend reports citing the country s CBA. The demand from banks at the auction, as compared to the previous indicator, decreased by 2 percent and was fully met. At the end of the auction, the weighted average rate of the manat to the dollar amounted to 1.7 AZN / USD. The first foreign exchange auction for a long time was held with the participation of SOFAZ on March 10, 2020, during which Azerbaijani banks purchased $323.2 million.

Azerbaijan determines extent of damage caused to Tartar district as result of Armenian aggression

By Jeyhun Alakbarov - Trend: The process of determining the damage caused to civilian facilities in Azerbaijan s Tartar district as a result of shelling settlements by the Armenian Armed Forces during the second Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh war has been completed, Gubad Heydarov, member of the State Commission on Identification and Elimination of Damage Caused to the Civilian Population as a result of the provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces, told Trend on Feb. 15. The members of the Commission reviewed all the damaged facilities in Tartar district, Heydarov added. Some 5,705 facilities were inspected, 60 of which were completely destroyed and became unusable, a member of the State Commission added. Some 185 enterprises were damaged, six of them were completely destroyed. Moreover, 48 social facilities were damaged, two of which were in an emergency condition and did not subject to restoration.

EU project in Azerbaijan to help country improve education system - UNDP

He noted that the project costs 5.8 million Euros, and it will support the goals set by Azerbaijan to develop the economy. In particular, thanks to the project, the youth of Azerbaijan will be able to get the necessary qualifications for the future. According to him, withing the joint work of the EU and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, a lot has been achieved in several years: teachers and students have received the necessary knowledge, purchased the necessary equipment, opened special educational centers, etc.
