economic recovery now what s happening in libya what greece did to us almost a year ago? it s a real possibility, guys. you look at the national average for gasoline right now, $3.19 a gallon. that doesn t tell the whole story. if you look at areas of the country, people are already paying well above $3.35 a gallon. all these increases we have seen over the last two weeks, we ve seen a nickel increase in the price of gas per gallon, all those increases don t take into effect the skyrocketing prices we have seen the last couple of days include oil prices. this morning, crude oil prices are up by $1.25. $ $96.68 a barrel. if you want to get a feel what this means for americans, every one penny more you pay at the pump translates into $4 million a day americans are paying to fill up. translate that to annualized basis we re talking $1.46 billion a year for every penny extra you pay. that s why you get to this point people are saying we re already
five people dead in north carolina where parts of the state hit by nearly 2 feet of rain this week. flood warnings as far north as maine. our rob marciano tracking the system from the extreme weather center. those fatalities in north carolina because people were driving and hit puddles and started hydroplanes and went off the road. and there s an awful lot of rain on the roadways north of there too. yeah, you know, there s certain things you can t control. if a tree falls down on your car, certain weather-related fatalities. when you know you re in a flood zone, that s something you can certainly do. 2.9 inches of rain so far in new york city. but that pales in comparison to allentown. boy, they just got pummelled yesterday, not only with rain, but wind, almost a foot of rain. and wilmington 16.68 inches of rain. and if you go back over another couple of days, they ve got over 22 inches of rain.
