side of the courthouse that s on the other street from our drone that s over it. that is the street that we believe the former president, his motorcade is going to drive through, as they enter into the courthouse. then he will go up to the 13th floor. you can see from that all of the law enforcement cars there and the presence there. so that s the security situation here. there was a little situation here earlier with that suspicious item. they have now cleared it. this is the other thing we re seeing. we re seeing cars drive. these streets are open. you can see the cars driving through here on the front showing their support for the former president. that s generally what it s been like out here. we re not really seeing any counterprotesters. there are a few, but so far, there s not been any clashes as law enforcement is just allowing everyone to do their thing, be out here. you can see there s a lot of media out here. there s generally been no interruption. there s been no problems a
by security concerns. the main courthouse in miami is likely the most secure although there are other courthouses in this district that could arguably be used. one thing we re seeing today, there was a motion by members of the media to give them access to these proceedings but there are limited seats in the courtroom on the 13th floor and so there will be those sorts of practical concerns. at the heart of these sort of decisions about where the case will go, there will be this pragmatic security concern and of course wherever in the district it goes, that jury won t really change. there may be some question of do you want to bust, or you know put jurors on a bus and bring them to miami. that s the sort of thing the courts will have to figure out but these are challenges that are faced in cases that don t involve the former president. where for instance in miami. joyce, i m going to have to
criminal conspiracy. these are things that normally as a lawyer you are just not worried about. yet now it s a pattern with this particular one. you would think ordinarily a former president is facing federal charges, you could be in the history books, you would think there would be a line of people around that courthouse saying i want to represent this gierks he want to stick up for justice. half the country think it s an unjust cause. no lawyer wants to bring it. i want to bring in marcos jimenez, he is outside the courthouse. can you talk a little bit about what is going on now inside the processing part it seems is over? yes. well, now that he s been processed by the probation office he is now heading up to the 13th floor, to the largest courtroom that we have in the courthouse, and he s going to have despite the craziness out here and the gravity of the case, he s going to have a very basic perfunctory initial appearance and arraignment. i m sure it s been talked about
what about walt nauta who is relatively unknown, and he is known to us who cover the white house, but other than that, he is not a super well known name until now? my guess is some prearranged bond for both defendants, and that is part of the calculus, and the prosecutors want to appear as fair as possible, and i think that is part of the calculation. i should note that you have spent a lot of time up on the 13th floor of this courthouse and you know it well, and did you ever imagine than a former president of the united states would be up there pleading not guilty to 37 charges? it is stunning to me that the former president was in this building and on the 13th floor, and he was having an arraignment, and it is stunning is but the 13th floor is a ceremonial courtroom, and this is where the investitures are held, and things are celebrated in this district, and to think that former president of the united states was a defendant in a criminal case and plead not guilty in that court
there there was no disturbances and anybody would be removed an the number of security officials in the courtroom both protective details, for these two men, jack smith, the special counsel and donald trump, the former president of the united states, was quite a lot. i mean, it is more than a dozen of those people plus court marshals from the u.s. marshal service, courtroom security officers, courtroom deputies. that is just a massive amount of security inside already an extremely secure building and an extremely secure proceeding itself. where we had to go through security screens and mags multiple times. and they were saying that 13th floor, that courtroom is used for ceremonial moments. paula, the question that most people have, we know what is coming next for walt nauta, trying to get a florida attorney. but what is next after this? i think you ll start to see motions. they re twoing to try to get this case dismissed.
