Residents of a quiet Whanganui street are in a state of shock after a family cat was picked up and swung around by its tail before being thrown to the road.
Sixteen-year-old cat Lilly was concussed in the attack on Tuesday evening which was caught on CCTV.
Both the police and SPCA have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

The CCTV footage shows two people walking down a Whanganui East street around 6.30pm.

Three people accused of managing a 16-year-old girl allegedly hired as an assistant dominatrix at a Melbourne brothel have been ordered to stand trial.
Wenjun Zhu, 33, Ying Yang, 51, and Cheng Li, 33, appeared via video link in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday to face multiple charges including causing a child to take part in sex work, allowing a child to enter a brothel, obtaining for sexual services performed by a child and entering an agreement by which a child is to perform sexual services to another person in return for payment.

Still in high school, 16-year-old Marcus Pereira managed to make A$60,000 in just a month during a Covid lockdown.
He made the money by spotting popular household items online, marking them up and then reselling them on eBay.
Marcus did it all from his parents house in Melbourne using just his computer and a small A$25 monthly investment to run the online shop on eBay.
What started out as selling a few household items from online retailers in August 2019 when he was just 15 turned into a thriving business raking in up to A$60,000-a-month just a year later.
