Photo: Andrew Goff After nearly two years of meetings, surveys and focus groups, Del Norte County residents now have a price tag for a revamped Beachfront Park $22 million. That $22 million reflects the complete buildout of Crescent City’s most recent master plan for the 35 acre park, City Manager Eric Wier said. That document includes 38 different components, each with its own cost estimate. Speaking at a final public meeting Tuesday, Wier and Recreation Director Holly Wendt asked residents to help prioritize which ones the city should focus on first.

State Offers COVID-19 Relief Dollars To Small Businesses; Grant Application Process Starts Tomorrow Local businesses struggling through the COVID-19 pandemic may find relief through a new state-funded grant program. Businesses, including 501©(3) and 501(c)(6) nonprofits, earning between $1,000 and $100,000 in annual revenue may be eligible for $5,000 in California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant program dollars. Those earning more than $100,000 up to $1 million can apply for $25,000 in grant dollars, Holly Wendt, Crescent City s recreation director who spearheads the Economic Resiliency Branch for the Del Norte Emergency Operations Center. The application process for the first round of grant funding begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday and closes Jan. 8, Wendt said. A plethora of webinars are available at 11 a.m. daily on the program’s web page to help business owners through the application process.

File photo by Andrew Goff Hoping to obtain up to $8.4 million in Proposition 68 dollars, Crescent City staff unveiled a new Beachfront Park masterplan that honors the region’s cultural diversity, natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Staff, along with consultant Cathy Garrett, of Bay Area landscape architect firm PGAdesign, presented a park cobbled together from ideas Del Norters offered last year. Their goal is to create a park that appeals not only to Crescent City’s townsfolk but also visitors from across the state and country, Garrett said Monday.
