Israeli court releases Palestinian Islamic leader to house arrest, forbids him from accessing internet
HAIFA, Monday, May 24, 2021 (WAFA) - Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel said Haifa Magistrates Court ordered the release of Sheikh Kamal al-Khateb, who was arrested by Israeli police special forces 10 days earlier in a violent raid on his hometown of Kufr Qanna that left dozens of local Palestinian residents wounded, some of them seriously.
At today s hearing, Israeli police requested that Khatib s detention be extended in order to obtain permission from the Israeli attorney general to file an indictment for incitement offenses.

Haifa Magistrates Court has confined member of the political bureau of the National Democratic Assembly Murad Haddad and member of Shfaram Municipality Zuhair Karkabi to house arrest for five days under many restrictions,

The government on Tuesday approved NIS 45 million ($13.8 million) for the cleanup of Israel’s Mediterranean beaches, most of which have been severely contaminated by tar following an oil spill at sea which is currently under investigation.
The government’s announcement followed a court decision Tuesday morning to cancel a seven-day ban on the reporting of any details about the probe, in favor of a package of more limited reporting rules. The change followed a petition from several media organizations.

A court order banning publication of details of the disastrous oil spill off the Israeli coast was issued on Monday, drawing criticism from environmental organizations.
Investigators were said to be working to identify the ship responsible for the damage, tons of tar that washed up on the country’s beaches and will take years to clean up.
Meanwhile, any details which could identify the suspects – including the names of people or vessels, destination or exit ports, navigation routes or cargo – are forbidden for publication.
The Haifa Magistrates Court issued the gag order on Monday upon a request filed by the Environmental Protection Ministry.
