Pfizer recently announced its vaccine is safe for kids ages 12 and up, and researchers reported those in the study developed high levels of antibodies. None of the 12- to 15-year-olds given the vaccine during the trial developed COVID-19, compared to 18 cases among those  who got a placebo shot.  The company is preparing to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency authorization to vaccinate kids 12 to 15. Moderna has trials underway for children, and Johnson & Johnson announced Friday it was expanding trials to include kids age 12 to 17. “We share the urgency to expand the use of our vaccine,” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in a statement, adding he hoped kids 12 to 15 would be able to be vaccinated before the next school year.
