The Dragon Boat Festival has been an iconic part of the events scene in the city.
While organizers suggest that the festival will look a little bit different this year, they’re excited nonetheless to announce that it will be going ahead this fall, from September 18 to 26, with the race weekend taking place either on September 25 or 26.

Future dates are currently listed to take place on June 24-26, 2022, June 23-25, 2023, and June 21-23, 2024.
Another event coming back later this year is Skate International Canada. Vancouver got the nod to host the Skate Canada event last October, and that has now been confirmed.

Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto finished second with 150.29 points ahead of Russia s Elizaveta Tuktamysheva in third with 146.23 points.
Alison Schumacher of Tecumseh, Ont., placed eighth in the women’s free program. Gabrielle Daleman of Newmarket, Ont., was 10th.

OSAKA, Japan Canada s figure skating team is at the bottom of the standings after the first day of the six-team ISU World Team Trophy.
The Canadians, who are competing in their first live event in a season ravaged by COVID-19, scored 23 points on the first of three competition days on Thursday. They re two points behind Italy, and four back of fourth-place France.
The Team Trophy, which runs Thursday through Sunday, awards points to countries in the four disciplines combined.
Canada won gold in the team event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, and silver in the event in 2014 in Sochi, Russia.
Canada is sending a different team than the one that competed at the world figure skating championships last month in Stockholm, giving precious competition experience to skaters in a season that was virtually wiped out by the global pandemic.
Both Skate Canada International and the Canadian championships were cancelled. The only semi-competitive event skaters completed in was the Skate Canada Challenge which was virtual - far from ideal in a pre-Olympic season.
