$6 4m matching BEST Grant awaiting MCSD should voters pass $40m bond in November

Should Moffat County School District voters pass a $40 million bond measure this fall, the state will match a portion of that funding. A BEST Grant, which stands for Building Excellent Schools Today, in the amount of $6.4 million is a formality away from being officially awarded to MCSD, said superintendent Scott Pankow. While the state school board must still approve it, the board responsible for selecting applicants has chosen the district to receive the matching grant. “We did a survey several weeks ago of voters asking, if the district was awarded a BEST Grant, what would your positivity rate for voting yes on the bond be?” Pankow said. “That number rose to 67%. That’s people saying if we got $6.4 million, they would definitely help them out passing the bond and going for it. We’re excited about that.”

Sara Linsacum named new Craig Middle School Principal

It’s been a long journey for Sara Linsacum in her 13 years as a teacher and staff member within Moffat County School District. On May 14 Linsacum was named the new Craig Middle School Principal, capping off a long interview process that saw her emerge as the top candidate to replace outgoing principal David Grabowski. Linsacum, who served as the assistant principal and athletic director at CMS for the last five years, was humbled by the appointment to principal after 13 years within the district. “I’m very honored,” Linsacum said. “I think during the interview process it was a great time for me to reflect just on how many amazing leaders I’ve been surrounded with in the past 13 years, the amazing staff members across the district, the community support…it was a really humbling time to see some of that hard work come to fruition.”

Moffat County School District taking applications for middle school principal s position, seeks parent input

Moffat County School District is asking for parent feedback from Craig Middle School students as it searches to find a new principal ahead of the 2021-22 school year. The district previously made the decision to not renew the contract of current CMS Principal David Grabowski. Grabowski remains a tenured employee within the district, but it is unclear if he is leaving the district, or taking a new position elsewhere within MCSD. Attempts to reach Grabowski were unsuccessful. Craig Middle School Principal David Grabowski.
