(WWNY) - Students at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School want a teacher returned to the classroom. They protested Thursday and their message was plain: they want science teacher William Ayers brought back. Superintendent Bill Collins confirms Ayers is on paid administrative leave. He says he can’t say more. Students and parents say Ayers was fired but the district is now thinking about it. They say he’s a teacher that’s about more than just grades.

Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 1:05 pm Over 30 Parishville-Hopkinton High School students protest Thursday across the road from the school holding signs in support of science teacher William Ayers, who they say was put on administrative leave last week and not allowed to teach there now. NCNow photo PARISHVILLE – Over 30 Parishville Hopkinton High School students held signs in support of their science teacher, William Ayers, during a protest Thursday morning, after they say he had been removed from teaching last week. Superintendent Bill Collins said the district would not comment on matters related to personnel. Ayers is a third-year teacher at PHCS. He has taught Outdoor Education and Earth Science, and started the Trap Shoot League at the school.
