With travel restrictions in place since March 2020, thanks to the pandemic, the airline sector and allied services were among the worst affected. “All flights were suspended and travel came to a standstill. Court ruling caps stellar 2020 of contract wins for Leidos The fight for the $7.7 billion Navy NGEN network services contract appears to have ended Thursday with Leidos as the winner, which means the company can look back on a remarkable year for itself on the business development front. NGEN is Leidos’ biggest win of the year but isn t the only major contract award. The company has captured seven contracts in the last 12 months with values ranging from just shy of $1 billion to NGEN’s $7.7 billion.

Bahamas is hailed for stroke of genius

Industry player: No one else comes close Preclearance to open as volumes up 100% By NEIL HARTNELL nhartnell@tribunemedia.net The Bahamas was yesterday hailed for a stroke of genius in developing Florida-based pre-clearance facilities for a private aviation market that has almost doubled in volume during recent months. Rick Gardner, director of CST Flight Services, which provides flight co-ordination and trip support services to the private aviation industry throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, told Tribune Business that the two locations will represent an industry game changer that no other country has when they become operational in early 2021. He explained that the initiative will open up Family Islands that presently lack designated ports of entry by enabling private pilots and their clients to clear Customs, Immigration and COVID-19 protocols while still in the US, and also reduce the cost, complexity and time associated with flying to The Bahamas.

WFS wins Milan handling contract for Asiana Cargo

WFS wins Milan handling contract for Asiana Cargo Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won the handling contract for Asiana Airlines’ freighter services at Milan-Malpensa Airport. The airline operates three Boeing 747 freighter flights a week from the Italian airport to Seoul. WFS expects to handle some 15,000 tonnes of cargo annually for Asiana. The new contract is a further justification of WFS’ decision to invest in a new cargo terminal at the airport, which has the capacity to handle over 47,000 tonnes a year. Opened two years ago, it is the most modern cargo handling facility at Milan-Malpensa and already serves other leading international airline customers.
