Razer has several variations of the Wolverine controller. We consider the Wolverine Ultimate to be one of the best controllers for the Xbox One, and when we reviewed the Wolverine V2 we gave it 4 stars out of 5 with a Recommended badge. It s a great series with some advanced features and sophisticated triggers, and the Tournament Edition is at its best price yet.
The controller has a Rapid-Fire Switch that provides instant actuation. It activates a hair trigger mode that uses a physical switch so you can activate it to greatly reduce the travel distance for the buttons you re pressing. With rapid-fire speed, when you press a button you ll see the action on screen with absolutely no delay from your fingers ot the screen.

The wired-only connection was a deliberate choice by Thrustmaster, in order to achieve “near-zero response times”. Although, I can’t say I’ve noticed any input lag on my own wireless controller, which I’ve been using with my PC for years, and I missed the clutter free feeling of a wireless controller. Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series controller is marketed for competitive gameplay too, but still has the option to connect wirelessly. On the plus side, there’s no way the removable cable will fall out during gameplay, with a locking mechanism for the cable and controller port. And you won’t ever be fishing around for a pair of AA batteries mid-clutch, like I’ve done more times than I’m willing to admit.

The Razer Wolverine V2 and I have had a stormy relationship - a love and hate thing, as you might call it. Initially, I was impressed with the controller’s aesthetics and feel, but over time, I found myself switching back to the standard official Xbox Series S controller.
Designs and features
Razer has reforged its Wolverine controller to provide a more natural hold through the new L-shaped hand grips. In the same style as Microsoft s official new Xbox Series X|S controller, the redesigned Wolverine V2 comes with textured grips (although more emphasized and rubberized on Razer s controller) for better grip and accurate button interaction. According to Razer, compared to 2017 s Wolverine Tournament Edition, the new L-shaped hand grips provide more support and allow easier access to both the triggers and bumpers. We ll take more about this later on.
