DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found a jacket on Center Street in Auburn on the roadside by Kentucky Fried Chicken. This is a black jacket with a hood. It’s a large size and has an Avalanche label. In one of the pockets there is some jewelry. Is there anyone out there who can help return this jacket to its owner? My contact number is 312-9699. Richard, Lewiston
ANSWER: Thank you for the very good description of the jacket and for your contact information. You filled in all the blanks. Let us know what happens.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the Jun 8 Sun Spots about Target opening, my understanding is that the company will have access to renovate and occupy the space starting in July. I hope they can get construction crews in there and be open for the Christmas season! Rick, Auburn

LEWISTON Auburn Savings recently donated $1,000 to the Lewiston/Auburn Veterans Council.
The money contributed toward a $6,500 goal to build a Vietnam veterans memorial in Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston. Auburn Savings President and CEO Bill Tracy presented Charlie Paul, L/A Veterans Council member and spokesperson for the project, with the gift.
Paul spearheaded the project after observing the community did not have a memorial dedicated to those who served in the Vietnam War. He hopes to reach his goal and have the monument created and established in time for Veterans Day on Nov. 11, 2021.
Auburn Savings supports L/A Veterans Council and the work it is doing to educate and engage the public and honor all veterans and their families in the community. Donations can be made at both Auburn Savings locations.
LEWISTON Veterans of the Vietnam War will soon have their own memorial monument in Veterans Memorial Park.

Charles Paul of Norway, who served 25 months in Vietnam and has worked with the Lewiston Auburn Veterans Council for the past seven years, is leading the effort to place a granite monument in the park that overlooks the Great Falls between Lewiston and Auburn.
“I’ve traveled around to see what other veteran organizations have done in the state,” Paul said. “Lewiston-Auburn doesn’t have a Vietnam War memorial in the park. It’s time for me to turn my actions onto deeds.”
