LCSD: Temporary employee arrested for criminal sexual conduct with middle school student

ABC Columbia May 25, 2021 1:59 PM EDT COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says a temporary employee who worked for a janitorial service was arrested for an alleged incident with a student in a bathroom at Pelion Middle School. Authorities say 21-year-old Juston Deon Smith was arrested on Monday and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Juston D. Smith Courtesy: Lexington County Sheriff’s Department “Smith, who was a contract temporary employee of a janitorial service provider, had a sexual encounter with a female student Monday,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “A school employee found Smith and the student in a restroom.”

ABC Columbia May 12, 2021 3:53 PM EDT COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office, a former kindergarten teacher at Red Bank Elementary School was sentenced to the maximum 15 years after pleading guilty to criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third degree. Officials say 43-year-old Hianlucas Isturiz Rodriguez was employed as a Spanish language immersion teacher at the school from 2014-2017, when he was terminated following a student’s report of abuse. School officials brought the reports to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, who corroborated the story through evidence found at the school and interviews with other students.
