Authorities seize more than $1.8M in meth, marijuana

STARR COUNTY, Texas (KTVT) Narcotics smugglers continue to keep border patrol agents busy in Texas, where more than $1.8 million in drugs was seized over the weekend.
On Friday June 18, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents working in La Grulla responded to a call regarding suspicious activity south of La Cuchilla Street. Responding agents encountered ten migrants, including three children, one of them as young as three years old. Near the group of migrants, agents discovered more than 114 pounds of marijuana. They seized the marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $91K. All subjects were processed accordingly.

173 Migrants Found in Stash Houses near Border in Texas

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended nearly 175 migrants in multiple human smuggling stash house operations over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Agents took the migrants into custody and processed them under CBP guidelines.
On June 1, Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agent received information about a mobile home being utilized as a human smuggling stash house near La Grulla, Texas, according to information obtained from Border Patrol officials. Agents arrived and found 24 migrants inside the mobile home. Agents identified the migrants as foreign nationals from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

Those are the ones they caught. More than 40,000 crossed who were not caught.
While the number of migrant children crossing without their parents fell by 12%, according to Customs and Border Protection, the number of adults increased.
Border Patrol agents in some of the hardest-hit areas of the migrant surge are being pulled off the front lines and have to spend a majority of their time processing and taking care of illegal immigrants, according to law enforcement officials who ticked off the grim statistics of the situation for The Washington Times.

A 10-year-old migrant from Nicaragua who was found abandoned in Starr County remains in Texas as his parents fight for custody of him.
The boy’s father wants him to return to Nicaragua while his mother wants her son to join her in the United States and seek asylum.
The mother said she doesn’t want to talk about how she and her son were separated but a family member said the two were kidnapped and the father could only pay for one ransom.
