According to the City of Lubbock, scammers are using City phone numbers to spoof calls and make citizens believe they are talking to someone about a COVID-19 Vaccine clinic.
This means that possible scammers are calling citizens using phone numbers that look like they are from the City of Lubbock. The callers are contacting citizens under the pretense of confirming their COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic appointment made through Select-A-Seat. If citizens have made an online appointment for a vaccination clinic through Select-A-Seat, they will receive a confirmation email

Mayor Dan Pope was giving a media tour of the pop-up vaccine clinic inside the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on Thursday when his cell phone went off. Great, he said after reading a message. It looks like we may get 5k (doses of the Moderna vaccine) next week.

The city gets notified from the state about how many doses of the Moderna vaccine it ll be receiving, and the health department starts making plans to distribute it. Sometimes the city is notified a few days before doses arrive, sometimes within 24 hours.
The City of Lubbock Public Health Department administered over 2,000 vaccinations in the first 3 days of their vaccination clinic at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
