Fuel modification programs by Laguna Beach homeowners in very high fire hazard severity zones will now be considered by the community development director and fire marshal and no longer reviewed by the Design Review Board.
The Laguna Beach City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to shift authority away from the Design Review Board to streamline the approval process while preserving landscape aesthetics and improving wildfire protections.

The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for a diver who was reported missing Saturday near Crystal Cove State Park.

The U.S. Coast Guard has ended search efforts for a diver who was reported missing off the coast of Laguna Beach on Saturday night.
“As of right now we’ve suspended our search,” Petty Officer Third Class Aidan Cooney, a spokesperson for the U.S. Coast Guard, said Sunday evening.
The search for the diver, a 35-year-old man, began on Saturday after he was reported missing by his diving partner at 9:45 p.m., the Coast Guard said. It continued again Sunday morning.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA The search for a diver, lost off the coast of Crystal Cove State Beach, was suspended at sunset, Sunday evening.
The Coast Guard and local partner agencies began their search for a diver after he was reported missing Saturday at 9:45 p.m., near Laguna Beach. The diver is reported to be a 35 year-old-man last seen wearing a camouflage wet suit in the vicinity of Crystal Cove State Park, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson reported.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) The U.S. Coast Guard and local partner agencies are searching for a diver that was reported missing Saturday night near Laguna Beach.
According to a news release from the Coast Guard, the diver is reported to be a 35 year-old-man last seen at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, wearing a camouflage wet suit in the vicinity of Crystal Cove State Park.
The missing man s dive partner contacted the Laguna Beach Fire Department who relayed the call to the Coast Guard stating the diver had gone missing, said Coast Guard officials.
