The Roswell Chamber of Commerce has announced its board of directors selected Andrea R. Moore as the organization’s next chief executive officer. Moore, who served as chairwoman of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce, assumed the Roswell Chamber President and CEO’s role as of Jan. 4.
“I’m excited and honored to be a part of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce staff as president and CEO,” said Moore. “I am looking forward, not backward. As I genuinely believe our most incredible days are in front of us.”
The selection of Moore, facilitated by the chamber’s executive board, focused on supporting the chamber’s growth in membership and revenue under her volunteer leadership from Aug. 3 to Jan. 3, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the chamber.

After a tumultuous 2020, the Roswell Chamber of Commerce is taking a new direction, signified by appointing its now-former chairwoman of the board of directors as its new staff leader and changing that position’s title.
Andrea Moore became chairwoman of the chamber’s board in July and added the duties of interim executive director when Candace Purcella resigned at the beginning of August.
Friday, Moore told the Roswell Daily Record the board had voted Thursday to make her Purcella’s replacement. The position has been retitled president and chief executive officer, a move Moore said reflects restructuring at chambers of commerce across the country.

Teacher recruitment at the Roswell Independent School District will be getting a boost from a nearly $30,000 grant from the Public Education Department.
The RISD school board voted 5-0 to accept the $29,633 grant at Tuesday’s meeting. The funds include $4,533 for new computer equipment, $7,000 for contract services for a recruiting liaison, $15,000 for recruiting trips, $3,000 for pamphlets and other materials, and $100 for subscriptions to job websites.
The goal of the RISD team administering the grant will not be to just fill vacancies, but to change the district’s approach to recruitment, Ralph Matta, director of Human Resources, said.
