Pa voters will have say in Harrisburg pandemic power struggle

Voters to weigh in on government pandemic power struggle | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 14, 2021 HARRISBURG (AP) A pandemic power struggle that has raged for a year between Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor and its Republican-led Legislature will land on voters’ laps next month in the form of two proposed constitutional amendments that could limit the length of disaster emergencies. There are four statewide ballot questions being decided during the May 18 primary. The others would put anti-discrimination language into the state constitution and give paid fire and rescue departments the same borrowing power that volunteer departments have had for decades. Republicans wasted little time getting the disaster emergency questions onto the ballot after losing a court ruling in July over a similar resolution that would have ended Gov. Tom Wolf’s disaster declaration. Constitutional amendments must pass both chambers in two consecutive, two-year sessions but do not require the governor’s backing.

Bryce Jordan Center Regional Vaccination Clinic to Begin Administering Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

The recently-opened, state-run COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center will resume operations on Thursday with the Moderna vaccine, according to an email sent on Wednesday to patients who are registered for appointments. Unlike the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Moderna’s vaccine requires two doses spaced four weeks apart. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, which operates the regional vaccination clinic at the BJC in conjunction with the Department of Health, said it will automatically schedule patients for a second dose once they receive their first. Previously, the site had administered only the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. PEMA said the clinic will use Moderna doses until further notice.

Regional Vaccination Clinic in Centre County to Resume Scheduled Operations Thursday

Regional Vaccination Clinic in Centre County to Resume Scheduled Operations Thursday 04/14/2021 Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Department of Health (DOH) today announced that the Regional Vaccination Clinic (RVC) at the Bryce Jordan Center on Penn State’s University Park campus in Centre County will resume operations as scheduled on Thursday, April 15 using the two-dose Moderna vaccine. “The pause on the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines required us to quickly pivot our planning in order to continue moving forward with appointments that are currently scheduled,” said PEMA Director Randy Padfield. “We’ll continue to work with our partners at DOH, the PA National Guard and AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC in order to meet the demand for vaccinations at this site.”
