It may not have been the winter wallop forecast by meteorologists, but the first major snowstorm of the season dropped over 9 inches of snow in parts of Hudson County.
While forecasts called for up to 18 inches of snow in parts of North Jersey, most of the state was spared snow totals of over a foot. However, some 9.5 inches fell in East Newark and 8.5 in neighboring Harrison.
As Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency, Hudson County municipalities spent Tuesday and Wednesday preparing for the Nor’easter. Jersey City had some 6,500 tons of salt to spread on city streets, while street sweeping and garbage/recycling services were suspended across the county.
