Rumford-based school district sets budget vote

Read Article RUMFORD Regional School Unit 10’s annual budget meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley High School for an initial vote on a $29.94 million proposal. A final vote will be held June 8 at polling stations in Rumford, Mexico, Roxbury, Buckfield, Hartford, Sumner and Hanover. The budget for 2021-22 is about $500,000 more than this fiscal year, which ends June 30. It represents an average decrease of 2.51% in assessments for the seven towns. At the board of directors meeting Monday, Leanne Condon, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, reviewed summer programs and services beginning July 6 at schools in Rumford, Mexico, Buckfield and Sumner.

The district proposes to build a school for prekindergarten through grade 8 students at the site of Meroby Elementary and Mountain Valley Middle schools in Mexico. The school would house students from Rumford and Mexico elementary schools and the middle school.

The whole company was invited into the home and spent a most enjoyable evening. 50 Years Ago: 1971 Miss Tizz Crowley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crowley of 143 Pleasant St. Auburn, has been named to the Eagles Honor Society at the University of Maine at Portland. Tizz is a member of the freshman class and is a political science major. She also is a freshman class senator and was social editor of the Viking. A graduate of Edward Little High School in the class of 1970, Tizz took a prominent part in school activities. She served as president of both the American Field Service Chapter and the Junior Classical League, was editor of Station ELHS, served as historian for the senior banquet and was a member of the Pep, Dramatic, Biology and Interna
