Motorola is setting its sights on the rugged smartphone market
Motorola plans to release a series of rugged smartphones.
The firm has signed a partnership with rugged device maker Bullitt Group.
Rugged smartphones remain a niche that few device makers have yet to fill. But one firm has seemingly spotted an opportunity. Motorola is set to enter the rugged smartphone market through a new long-term partnership with Bullitt Group.
The two firms are cagey about the details and features of the potential devices, but the phones are promised to be “drop-proof and shockproof.” If Motorola’s phones are anything like Bullitt’s other devices, we can also expect IP ratings and bulky bodies, too. The companies will have more to share later this quarter.
Chen Jin, who is the general manager of Lenovo’s China mobile phone division, recently confirmed that Motorola‘s new flagship will be launching very soon, and today a new teaser featuring the silhouette of the Motorola Moto Edge S smartphone was released.
Lenovo promises that a very big announcement awaits us today. Earlier, the company officially confirmed that the new smartphone will be released under the name Motorola Moto Edge S.
According to preliminary information, the smartphone will be equipped with a flagship SoC of the Snapdragon 8XX line. In the basic version, the smartphone will receive 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory. At the same time, users will also be offered a version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory.
Motorola released a list devices it plans to update to Android 11.

After all the disappointment 2020 brought with it, you might have hoped a company like Motorola would have tried to end the year on a high note. But that’s not to be the case. The company shared its Android 11 upgrade plans, and they’re no better than anything Motorola has put together over the past couple of years.
As you can see from the list below, if you own a Motorola phone that came out before 2019, don’t expect the company to push the latest version of Google’s operating system to your device. What’s more, even if you own a Moto phone from 2019 or 2020, you may end up waiting a while to get anything. Motorola says it will begin rolling out Android 11 “starting in the coming months, pending partner support.” In other words, expect a potentially long wait, particularly if you don’t own one of the higher-end devices on the list like
