Wolverine recruiting report: The battle for 4-star defensive end Joe Strickland

With the recruiting dead period potentially ending May 31, Michigan is beginning to set up official visits with 2022 prospects.
One of those recruits is Indianapolis Brebeuf Jesuit four-star defensive end Joe Strickland, who is scheduled to visit the weekend of June 19th.
In-person recruiting has been banned since March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the NCAA Football Oversight Committee has recommended the dead period transition to a “quiet period” on June 1 so schools can host recruits on campus and conduct camps, according to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

Elgin Street has lost its funniest institution: After more than three decades, Yuk Yuk’s has decamped from Centretown following a serious landlord problem.
The venerable comedy club has been forced to temporarily move its act to Lago Bar and Grill in the Dow’s Lake Pavilion while owner Howard Wagman searches for a new venue. Yuk Yuk’s was forced to relocate after its leaseholder, Hooley’s Pub, went out of business the latest victim of the pandemic.

Michigan’s new quarterbacks coach will be the fourth highest-paid assistant on Jim Harbaugh’s staff in 2021.
Matt Weiss, hired in February from the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens to coach the quarterbacks, signed a two-year employment agreement worth $1.2 million in base salary.
Under the deal, obtained by MLive Wednesday from the University of Michigan via a public records request, the 38-year-old Weiss will collect an annual salary of $600,000. That makes him fourth on the staff in annual base pay, behind only defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald ($1 million), offensive coordinator Josh Gattis ($900,000) and co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist ($680,000).
