The President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam III, has entreated the Regional Minister, Mr Stephen Yakubu, to work assiduously to attract investors to tap into the rich natural resources in the region to accelerate its development.
Pe Ayagitam III, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, explained that the region was endowed with lots of natural resources that had the potential to turn the fortunes of the people around but they were yet to be fully tapped.
The paramount chief made the appeal when the regional minister paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Chiana in the Kassena-Nankana West District last Wednesday.

The Paramount chief of the Talensi traditional area, Tong-Raan Kugbilsong Nalebegtang is in a keen race with four other contestants seeking to retain the position of a Council of State member representing the Upper East Region.
Known in real life as Robert Mosore, he was elected the Upper East Regional Council of State representative in 2017 after his resignation as Member of Parliament for the Talensi constituency to ascend the throne of the Talensi ‘skin’.
Tongraan Kugbilsong Nalebegtang who beat his predecessor late Dr. Jacob Ayeebo and three others to become the Regional Council of State is in another keen contest with four others seeking to retain his position.

A re-run of the Western Regional Council of State elections is scheduled for later this morning due to the inability of the two contenders to secure the needed majority votes in last Friday’s polls.
Eunice Buah, who is the incumbent and Nana Akomea, her only contender, both secured 14 votes each out of the 28 total votes cast.
According to the Western Regional Electoral Commission Director, Angelina Tagoe, the tie has necesitated the run-off hence today’s election.
“After the voting, there was a tie, two candidates had 14 votes each. 28 people voted. We couldn’t declare anyone as a winner because of the tie that is why we are running again,” she said.
Two out of the five people contesting the position of Council of State in the Upper East Region are Paramount Chiefs with no female among the contestants.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr William Obeng Adarkwa, the Regional Director of the EC disclosed that Tong-Raan Kugbilsong Nalebegtang, Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area, who doubles as the incumbent was seeking re-election.
He said Pe Ditundini Adiali Thomas-More, the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area and currently the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs was also contesting the position which would be voted by 30 nominees from all the 15 Municipal and District Assemblies.
