Wooster housing: Victorian home restored to provide affordable options

WOOSTER - The moment he stepped into the 19th century Victorian home, Stan Popp knew he wanted to buy it. Not for himself, but to provide six families with an affordable place to live in a town lacking such accommodations. “We went up and I walked into that house and before we got through the house I said, ‘I want this house. I want this house,’” said Popp, the executive director of the Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority. Popp wasn’t originally sold on the idea. The agency’s Realtor called the director and asked him if he’d be interested in looking at a house on East Bowman Street. At first, he pictured the homes on the south side of the street, a few of which have seen better days.

Sad passing of former national ICA president Late Eva Coyle from Raphoe Reporter: );   ); Former national president of the Irish Countrywomen s Association, Eva Coyle from Gortfad, Raphoe, has passed away. Mrs Coyle, who was a member of the Raphoe Guild, held the position between 1997-2000. She was also president of the Donegal branch and was an active member of many committees and held the chair of the DLDC for a spell too. Mrs Coyle, formerly of Ferefad, Longford, always believed in keeping the ICA at the heart of community life, keeping traditions and heritage alive, while offering support, friendship, personal development and life-long learning to their members and the community

TG4 show announced to honour the Teams of the 2020 Ladies Football Championships February 11, 2021 LGFA Team of the Year Awards The LGFA and TG4, in association with AIG Insurance, are pleased to confirm details of ‘Peil na mBan – Foirne na Bliana – le AIG Insurance’ – a special TV show to honour the Teams of the 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships.   The action-packed hour-long programme, to be presented by Peil na mBan lead anchor Máire Ní Bhraonáin, will air on TG4 on Saturday, February 27, at 7.15pm.   2020 marked the 20th season of TG4’s sponsorship of the All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships, as well as the 20th year of live TV coverage of the All-Ireland finals.
