North East-area woman charged with assault, DUI

ELKTON — A domestic dispute spilled out of a residence near North East and onto Cecil County roads on Friday, when a woman allegedly chased her partner — reaching an estimated 100 mph at times — and rammed his vehicle multiple times, according to Cecil County District Court records. Investigators identified the suspect as Jordan Nicole Spicer, 28, of the 100 block of Nazarene Camp Road, off Route 272, near North East. Spicer is charged with first-degree assault, a felony that is punishable by up to 25 years in prison if convicted, court records show. After spending the weekend in the Cecil County Detention Center without bond, Spicer gained her pre-trial freedom Monday by posting a $5,000 bond following her bail review hearing, according to court records.

Traffic stop near Perryville nets $77K in unstamped cigarettes, two arrests

PERRYVILLE — Two men are facing criminal charges after investigators caught them allegedly smuggling more than 8,000 packs of unstamped cigarettes — with a retail value in excess of $77,000 — during a traffic stop near Perryville, according to Cecil County District Court records. Investigators identified the suspects as Alston Troy Powell, 52; and Nino De Jesus Espinal-Perez, 46, both of Bridgeport, Conn. Maryland State Police Tfc. Warrenfeltz started his investigation at approximately 1 a.m. on Friday, after stopping a white Nissan van in the northbound lane of Interstate 95, north of the Millard E. Tydings Memorial Bridge toll plaza and south of the Route 222 interchange, because the vehicle had a malfunctioning tag light, police reported.
