TWO brave sailors, skipper Jeremy Mortimer and crewman Jonathan Ferguson, arrived in Lerwick on Wednesday afternoon after setting off from Wick on Sunday in a 16-foot open dinghy. They bypassed Orkney as the weather was fine and sailed over night to Fair Isle, arriving there on.

Greg Michael, chief executive of Menzies Distribution Menzies Distribution has completed its second significant acquisition in six months with the takeover of West Lothian s JBT Distribution. JBT operates 200 vehicles from its headquarters in Bathgate and further depots in Aberdeen, Inverness, East Kilbride, Lerwick and Kirkwall. Sitting alongside Menzies in Motor Transport s Top 100 logistics companies by size, JBT has annual sales of more than £23 million. Menzies has been gearing up for expansion since it was taken over in September 2018 by private equity group Endless as a buy and build project. At the end of last year it acquired Bibby Distribution, a move that was followed by the appointment of distribution heavyweights Andy Clark and Charles Wilson to the board of directors.

A new Johnnie Walker Terrace Garden with views towards Edinburgh Castle has launched at The Huxley on Rutland Street ahead of one of the biggest celebrations of Scotland’s national drink this weekend. The Huxley in the West End has teamed up with the Johnnie Walker whisky experience on Princes Street and will mark the move by celebrating World Whisky Day at the venue on Saturday. The 40-seater Johnnie Walker Terrace Garden at The Huxley offers an idyllic location for people to enjoy their favourite cocktail and other tasty tipples right in the heart of the city , the operator said.
