SANTA FE – The uncontrolled emission of an air pollutant in southern New Mexico is endangering public health and contributing to the risk of cancer in nearby communities, a state judge found Tuesday.
In a four-page order, District Judge Marci Beyer granted a preliminary injunction prohibiting a medical plant in Santa Teresa from allowing uncontrolled emissions of ethylene oxide as it sterilizes medical equipment used in surgeries throughout the United States.
