Offshore China Well Contract Goes to AGR

AGR will assist with well planning and engineering. Empyrean Energy plc (AIM: EME) has awarded independent energy services company AGR a contract to assist with well planning and engineering on the Jade prospect in Block 29/11 offshore China, AGR reported Wednesday. AGR pointed out in a written statement emailed to Rigzone that it will provide offset analysis and detailed well design engineering for the project in Block 29/11, located in the Pearl River Mouth Basin approximately 124 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of Hong Kong. The contract recipient added that its Perth-based Australian project team will use AGR’s “iQx” probabilistic time and cost application “P1” to evaluate well design options, progressing to a recommended design for what will be Empyrean’s first well in China.

AGR Secures Contract for Jade Prospect, Offshore

The contract, signed with oil and gas development company Empyrean Energy, will see AGR provide offset analysis and detailed well design engineering. In addition, the project team will be utilizing AGRâs iQx software to increase efficiencies in time and cost planning for Empyreanâs first well in China. As part of the project, AGR and its and its Perth-based Australian team have been tasked with evaluating a number of well design options which will progress to a recommended well design using iQx proprietary probabilistic time and cost application, P1. This will enable AGR to provide Empyrean with quantified risks and increased insights into well planning.

The field, known as Huizhou 26-6, has a proven reserve of 50 million tonnes of oil equivalent, said CNOOC. At an average depth of 113 meters, the field is situated in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, and its exploratory well has encountered oil and gas pay zones with a thickness of 422.2 meters, according to the company.
