His first monthly visit on Thursday s Talk Back show was busy with callers for questions for Governor Greg Gianforte, one of the few public officials who welcomes calls during media appearances.
One of the first questions dealt with new President Joe Biden and Congress and possible moves to limit Montanans’ right to keep and bear arms, to which Gianforte said he would work with other state officials not to let that happen.
“There are a number of pieces of legislation moving through the Montana legislature,” said Gianforte. “I m looking forward to getting them on my desk. One of those bills is HB 102, which would provide for constitutional carry here in the state. I m looking forward to signing that bill, and if there are attempts to infringe on our state s rights as it relates to our constitutional rights, know that I will work side by side with our Attorney General to oppose any of those efforts.”

Reward increased for info on 2 dead grizzly bears found near Bigfork

The carcasses of an adult female bear and cub were found in November on Bear Creek Road near Montana Highway 83.

KALISPELL â The potential reward has increased to $6,750 for anyone with information about the death of two grizzly bears found near Bigfork last November.
Individuals have anonymously donated $5,750 as an increased reward for information that leads to a conviction.
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP) spokesman Dillon Tabish says Montanaâs Outdoor Legacy Foundation is facilitating the reward between the donors and FWP which also provides up to $1,000 for information.
Montana WILD is hosting a Zoom family trivia night that is all about Montana s wildlife. Come test your knowledge on birds, snakes, mammals and more! Trivia night will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. There will be questions for the whole family, with a few tricky ones sprinkled in! Most Popular Montana State Parks in 2020
Everyone knows about our national parks - Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. They have had pretty good attendance again in 2020, even with the pandemic. What about the myriad of Montana State Parks? They ve done pretty well, too.
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks reported over 3 million visitors from January through September this past year. That s very good with three months remaining. And, it s an increase of 25 percent from 2019.
Eight of the parks exceeded 100,000 visitors by themselves. They were led by Flathead Lake State Park with 439,298 visitors. Coming in second was Cooney Reservoir State Park at Roberts, MT., with 330,730, then Giant Springs State Park in third place with 312,655, Lake Elmo State Park near Billings with 206,091 and in fifth was Thompson Chain of Lakes State Park near Libby with 155,483, which is almost 50 percent better than 2019.
