Patna, April 28 : The Bihar Police Association (BPA) has written to DGP S.K. Singhal to provide health cover of Rs 50 lakh to each cop in the state.
Mritunjay Kumar Singh, the president of BPA, told IANS that a large number of police personnel are getting infected while performing Covid duty every day. It is extremely disheartening that the health department is not providing timely test reports. The report of every RT-PCR test has to come within 48 hours as per the WHO guidelines, but as the health infrastructure has completely collapsed in the state, it is taking 5 to 7 days and sometimes even more than a week. Till then, a person waiting for a test report in home isolation may get severely infected

Patna, April 20 : 202 police personnel have been infected with Covid-19 while five, including a sub-inspector and inspector, have succumbed to the virus in Bihar so far while performing duty, an official said on Tuesday.
Following the surge of cases in the frontline warriors, DGP S K Singhal has come up with fresh guidelines for the police personnel of the state.
Sources said that the guidelines have come after the Bihar Police association had written a letter to the DGP on Monday raising concerns over the health security of the police personnel.
Greater Noida: Gautam Budh Nagar health department has scaled up Covid testing across the district in the past 10 days, but the number of reports being processed every day has not gone up proportionally.
The department on Saturday claimed that over 6,000 Covid tests are being conducted at the government-run centres across the district. Officials from the department said that over 4,000 samples are being examined with the help of rapid antigen kits and an additional 2,000 to 2,500 samples are being detected through the RT-PCR method.
Notably, private laboratories are also conducting at least 1,500 tests every day.
“We are conducting an average of 6,200 to 6,500 tests through just state-run centres. However, due to increased testing, the processing of reports is taking a while. The backlog is being cleared,” said the chief medical officer of the district, Deepak Ohri.

Patna, Feb 24 : After the encounter in Sitamarhi on Wednesday afternoon, the opposition parties slammed the Bihar government for having no control over the law and order situation in the state.
RJD MLC Subodh Rai said: The way liquor mafias attacked the police and snuffed out the life of a sub-inspector rank officer indicates that the home department, which comes under Nitish Kumar, has no control over law and order in the state. They (mafias) are rampaging in several districts of Bihar without any fear of the police.
