The Samsung Galaxy S21 Is Here: Polished, and at a Lower Price

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series promises to make the everyday epic. But Samsung s three new phones the $799 S21, the $999 S21+, and the $1,199 S21 Ultra are more everyday than epic, primarily fixing and refining the S20 line s concepts rather than doing anything radical. The three new phones are $200 to $400 less expensive than last year s flagships, reflecting pandemic-straitened budgets. They double down on last year s promise of 100x zoom, but insist that this year they re getting it right. They bring the S Pen to Samsung s non-Note phones. And they are the first Samsung phones certified for the upcoming C-band 5G networks, which future-proof them for the next few years.

Samsung: Prepare for More Foldable Phones

Expect Samsung to release even more foldable phones next year.  “True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone,” Samsung Electronics President TM Roh said on Tuesday. The company currently has two foldable models up for sale, the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 2, which both launched this past year. However, both products originally had starting prices at $1,380 and $1,999, respectively, before Samsung began giving discounts on them.  (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2) According to Roh, the Z Fold 2 offers a mere glimpse of what the company has planned for the foldable smartphone category. But more importantly, he’s indicating that prices may come down. “We believe everyone should have access to the latest mobile technologies and a spectrum of product options that offer unfettered, personalized experiences,” he added.
