Four area women are being recognized Monday on International Womenâs Day for their community contributions.
One of them, Robin Kerr, of Bruce Mines, is being recognized for helping women who have experienced violence.

âWomen are doing good in our community,â said Kerr, adding she is âproudâ to have been nominated by Women in Crisis Support.
âThey see everything. They know what needs to be done. We are showing women as they get stronger, they have the strength and courage to move on. We are here to help and not judge.â

Snow is expected to arrive in the area this evening. This snow will be heaviest in the first 3 to 5 hours after onset, with snowfall rates of 2-3 cm per hour possible at times. Accumulations of 7 to 15 cm are expected by Friday morning.
Poor winter driving conditions are expected tonight due to accumulating snow and very poor visibility at times. Motorists should consider changing travel plans accordingly.
The snow is expected to taper off Friday morning. Snow squalls are forecast to develop off Lake Superior by Friday afternoon.

Thunder Bay = WEATHER – The Colorado Clipper making its was east and north from the United States is expected to drop snow on the Lake Superior region.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the eastern side of Lake Superior on the Canadian side of the lake.
Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.
The weather service says that the eavy snowfall begins tonight and continues into Wednesday morning.
Snow is expected to move into the region overnight and persist for much of the day Wednesday. The snow may fall heavily at times, particularly overnight and Wednesday morning.
