Editor Matt Sauer departs Sarasota Herald-Tribune after 27 years

Sarasota Herald-Tribune Herald-Tribune Executive Editor Matthew Sauer announced Friday that he is departing the newspaper he joined in 1993 as a county government reporter, and where he rose through the ranks to take the helm three years ago. Sauer sent an email to the staff Friday morning announcing his departure. He did not explain the circumstances, instead focusing on the newspaper’s accomplishments during his time working there, including two Pulitzer prizes. “It’s with the sense of pride in all those accomplishments that I am able to comfortably turn a new page in my own life,” Sauer wrote. “Today is my last day at the Herald-Tribune and I am so grateful to have worked with all of you.”
