We are officially in Pride Month, and this year, with the return of some in-person events, it feels particularly festive.
Yes, we’re still not through with the pandemic, but in-person Pride Shabbatot on sunny beaches, special seminars and yes, even parades are back on. And there are also still plenty of virtual options, offering the chance to partake in even the most far-flung institution’s festivities.

Pride Houston is scheduled to have its festival and parade later this fall (due to pandemic-incited delays, the City of Houston won’t finalize the required permits until later this month), there will still be Pride-related events going on all over the city this month. Here s a quick roundup of some fierce and fab events to celebrate with pride.
Karbach Brewing will have a family/pet-friendly Pride Market & Biergarten Party. 20 spots will be available for vendors to showcase their businesses. DJ Athens will also provide the tunes. Sunday, June 6. 11 am.

When the story of the COVID pandemic is written, we are confident that an entire chapter will be dedicated to the evolution of masks and other face-coverings. We in California, and especially in San Francisco, confronted the challenge of covering our faces to help prevent the spread of the virus early on and our personal collection of masks tells the story of our own journey.
In March of 2020, we cooperated with Mayor
London Breed’s precautions first by utilizing scarves, which were still in use as cool weather persisted. How hard was it to wrap a piece of fabric a bit higher on the face, effectively blocking any exchange of virus-carrying fluids? We even rediscovered some neglected luxurious pashminas in the back of the closet and met COVID with style and comfort. As this unexpected and undefined flu quickly escalated to an epidemic and then a pandemic, we realized that some research and investment in face masks was necessary.
