The South Jacksonville Electoral Board is scheduled to meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in Village Hall, 301 Dewey Drive, to ratify its decision to remove a candidate from the April election.
The three-member board comprised of village President Harry Jennings, trustee Paula Stewart and Clerk Megan Moore voted Jan. 19 to remove Tyson Manker’s name from the April 6 ballot. Manker was running for village president, but candidate Richard “Dick” Samples objected.
The board upheld Samples’ objection that Manker failed to include a receipt from the Morgan County clerk’s office for a statement of economic interest. The statement, which candidates are legally required to file with the county, was instead filed with the village. Manker said he was told all paperwork should be filed with the village.
