Seven sub-groups formed to prepare recommendations for 10th NFC Award   Published On Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chaired the meeting. ISLAMABAD (APP) – Seven sub-groups were formulated during the inaugural meeting of the 10th National Finance Commission (NFC), to prepare workable recommendations for the upcoming NFC Award. The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, according to press statement issued by the Finance Ministry here. The sub-groups were formed with specific tasks on the basis of terms of references (TORs) of NFC, with the direction to present recommendations before the august forum in due course of time.

Report: Israel preparing a law prohibiting cooperation with the ICC investigations

(MENAFN - Palestine News Network) PNN/ Bethlehem/ The Hebrew Channel 7 reported that Israel will prepare a bill prohibiting providing any information or cooperating with the Hague court, and that violating it will be punished with imprisonment for up to 5 years. The channel stated that the law will also include a ban on handing over Israeli personalities to the court, financing the expenses of legal defense before the International Criminal Court, and imposing penalties against the court and those who work for it. This step is part of a series of measures taken by Israel against the International Criminal Court, after it announced the opening of an investigation against Israel into war crimes against the Palestinians.

Qatar- Businesses urged to be VAT-ready

(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Lani Rose R Dizon / The Peninsula Businesses in Qatar have been urged to prepare for the expected implementation of value added tax (VAT) in the country. Experts from global consulting firm PwC Middle East who spoke at a webinar hosted by the Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in Qatar, recently, said business organisations across Qatar need to conduct VAT impact assessment even before the government issues the final legislation. The PwC experts also stressed that Qatar is now VAT ready in terms of the country s legislation and system readiness.  Qatar has started preparing for the VAT implementation back in 2016, around the same time the country has signed the GCC VAT framework. In terms of readiness, Qatar is ready when it comes to regulations, (IT) system readiness, and the General Tax Authority s (GTA) ability to have a team on the ground to deal with tax payers, said Rania Ibrahim, Manager for Tax and Legal Services at PwC Middle East.
