Dos Pueblos Prevails in Tight Girls Beach Volleyball Match With San Marcos

The girls high school sand volleyball season opened with Dos Pueblos beating San Marcos 3-2 at the San Marcos on-campus courts on Thursday.
In the match between No. 1 teams, the DP duo of Hawaii commit Portia Sherman and Chloe Hoffman beat Stanford signee Taylor Wilson and Pepperdine-bound Madison Oriskovich in three sets, 21-16, 13-21, 15-9.

It was a special moment for the indoor girls volleyball teams of Dos Pueblos and San Marcos when they stepped on the court to face each other for the first time in over a year.

Starting in the spring of 2022, there will be CIF championships for girls beach volleyball.
The CIF Federated Council last week gave unanimous approval to the sport, which also is an official NCAA sport for women.
Portia Sherman of Dos Pueblos High, who is considered one of the top junior beach volleyball players in the state, is thrilled the sport is finally being recognized by the CIF.
“I am excited about the CIF’s decision to embrace beach volleyball as an official sport,” she said. “Beach volleyball has been a NCAA sport since 2015, and it makes sense for the CIF to align themselves in order to develop potential future college athletes.
