Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
An ardent supporter of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, who served the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as Constituency Youth Organiser in Cape Coast, E. G. Buckman has opined that Northerners and Muslims for that matter cannot lead the party to victory.
According to him, the party devised a formula of choosing flagbearers from the Southern Sector and their Running mates from the North which has been the party’s trump card ever since and that has earned them victory.
Therefore, it will be a mistake to field Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s Flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
Experts review port and trade related policies introduced by government since 2017
Trade Experts have reviewed port and trade related policies that had been introduced by government since 2017.
According to the Immediate Past President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, Kwabena Ofosu Appiah, who was speaking on Eye on Port, the paperless port clearance process initiated by the Vice President of the country, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been instrumental in trade facilitation at the ports.
He, however, bemoaned what he described as the inability of the government to sustain the gains made by the paperless initiative which he rated as 70% achieved.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will from January 7, 2021, serve another four year-term as the V ice President of Ghana.
He partnered President Akufo-Addo as a running mate to garner more than 6.7 million votes to beat the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ candidate Mr John Mahama who polled 6.2 million votes.
The astute Economist and a Banker was elected the 7th Vice President of the Ghana’s fourth Republic.
He was for the fourth time nominated as the running-mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flag-bearer for the December, 2020 Election, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Dr Bawumia has championed the Government’s digitisation agenda to make the Ghanaian economy financially-inclusive and expand the tax net to the informal sector of the economy.
