The Archbishop of Vancouver is offering “my deep apology” to those affected by the discovery of the bodies of 215 children at the former Kamloops Indi.
Filed in B.C. Supreme Court Feb. 26, the petition said the order breaches constitutional religious freedoms. The petition said the archdiocese represents about 500,000 baptized Catholics, and operates 77 parishes, 51 schools and four places of higher education. In a Feb. 19 letter to provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, Archbishop Michael Miller said the requirement to attend Mass on Sunday is binding on Roman Catholics for personal worship through the ministry of a priest. “This foundational practice of the Catholic faith and life of divine worship has now been precluded for three months, with no clear end in sight,” Miller said. Henry’s order recognized the order could impact religious freedoms but said those freedoms are not absolute and subject to reasonable limits.

2020: Looking for hope amid the grief December 23, 2020
This unforgettable year, this
annus horribilis, is mercifully drawing to the end, but the virus that has so consumed our lives is not.
With over 14,000 deaths in Canada and 1.7 million around the globe, there is a question from the 16th-century Book of Common Prayer that speaks to us: “In the midst of life we are in death, of whom may we seek for succour?”

We are tempted toward hope as we see pictures and video of arms being pierced with syringes full of COVID-19 vaccine, but have we really begun to grieve all that we’ve lost?
