The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has closed its case against two men accused of murdering six-year-old Sean Luke as teenagers. The State s last witness in the case, retired Sgt Alexis Garcia, who served as the lead investigator, completed his cross-examination during a virtual hearing before Justice Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds, yesterday. Justice Ramsumair-Hinds will now hear and determine no-case submissions from the duo s attorneys, who are likely to claim that prosecutors have presented insufficient evidence linking their clients to the heinous crime.

Effective June 3rd, from 8 am, the Point Fortin Health Centre will now offer a 24-hour walk-in service for patients.
The South-West Regional Health Authority stated in a press release today.

Court reserves decision in driver’s demerit points appeal

The Court of Appeal has reserved its decision on an appeal over the appropriate court to hear challenges against the suspension of driver’s permits due to the accumulation of demerit points. Following a virtual hearing yesterday, Appellate Judges Alice Yorke-Soo Hon, Peter Rajkumar and Ronnie Boodoosingh deferred their decision in the case brought by a driver from Arouca, whose driver’s permit was suspended for six months after he received three tickets in the space of five months, last year.
Repair work completed on APT James, sailing resumes today

The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Company (TTIT) says that repair works have been completed on the APT James, and the vessel will resume service from Port of Spain at 4:00 p.m. today.
