From mellow raft trips to scenic day hikes and mountain ziplines, you’ll find summer activities everyone will enjoy. Where to start? We chatted with local mountain biking expert Brooke Goudy and fly-fishing guide Jennings Hester about a few of their favorite spots. Hit the Whitewater Park in Downtown Denver
Grab an inflatable tube from Confluence Kayak & Ski and tackle the splashy whitewater at Confluence Park. A few short drops add a little excitement to the otherwise slow-moving stretch of the South Platte River that cuts through the city. 50k for 50 years hiking series kicks off tomorrow

EL PASO COUNTY â The El Paso County Parks Department is kicking off their 50k for 50 years hiking series at the Paint Mines Interpretive Park Saturday, Feb. 6.
People can go on a guided hike or participate independently, and are encouraged to photograph their adventures and share on social media using #EPCParks50Years. Not only are we going to have our parks staff there, but we re going to have our park naturalist there, who s going to be able to really talk to us about the geology and the hoodoos and the cultural history of the site, said Theresa Odello, the Recreation Coordinator at El Paso County Parks.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Scott Fitzwilliams was supposed to be off work. But as supervisor of America’s most trafficked national forest, “you’re never off work,” he says.
So there he was Fourth of July weekend, supposed to be enjoying the serenity he had always known at a lake within White River National Forest. “Popular,” Fitzwilliams had always known it, “but usually kind of a local place.”
