He is the first player on our list who played in an era without jersey numbers, and since we have no player to fill this spot, we’ll give it to Ray Hahn. Playing for K-State when it was known as Kansas State Agricultural College, Hahn was yet another player who played both offense and defense. Hahn came to KSAC from Clay Center, Kansas and quickly established himself as a force on the offensive line for the Cats. His original intent was to serve in the Student Army Training Corps, but joined the football team in 1918. Hahn was captain of the 1922 team that came within one win of capturing the Missouri Valley Conference title, but a 21-0 loss to Nebraska, prevented the Cats from winning their first conference title.
